Hot Chocolate
A cup of pure happiness
When you see how easy it is to make your own hot chocolate at home, you’ll never go back to the powder at the store. This hot chocolate is rich, comforting, and even better, can be made with whatever milk fits your dietary choices! This is another one of those recipes where the flavors are totally up to you! You like orange? Add some orange zest. Like it spicy? Add a pinch of cayenne!
Serves 4 people
Ingredients:
6oz(169g) Semisweet Chocolate, Chopped
1 Tbs (13g) Brown Sugar
¼ Tsp (1g) Salt
3 ½ Cups (830mL) The Milk of Your Choice
1 Tbs Cocoa Powder
¼ Tsp Ground Cinnamon
2 Tsp (8g) Vanilla Extract
Optional: ¼ Cup (60mL) Heavy Cream
Directions:
1. In a medium saucepot on the stove, turn the heat to medium and add all of the ingredients, except for the vanilla and cream (if using).
2. Stir the mixture with a whisk occasionally until the chocolate starts to melt, then you need to start whisking it almost continuously to make sure the chocolate doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan and burn.
3. Once the hot chocolate is steaming and totally melted and combined, add in the vanilla and cream if you want it, heat for another minute, and serve!
-I love to top this with my easy homemade whipped cream (see recipe on page…)
-Store in a container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
